It! Ends! Here!
Today is the official end; congratulations!
The end of not pursuing your wildest dreams.
Today, you will take the steps necessary to finally start working toward them.
The classic saying is popular for a reason… because it’s true!
“The hardest part is taking the first step.”
Well, I declare, by the power vested in me by absolutely no one, that today will be the day you take that first step!
Here are three easiest, quickest, and most effective things you can do RIGHT NOW to achieve your dreams.
Step One: Re-Commit to Your Dreams
Each commitment you make is a series of smaller, daily re-commitments.
It’s nearly impossible to commit to doing something once and expect that that’s the end of it.
There’s a verse in the Bible that’s something along the lines of the fact that you have to ‘pick up’ your ‘cross’ daily (Luke 9:23). It basically means that you don’t just choose to follow Jesus once; it’s a decision you choose to make each and every day.
In the same way, once you have decided to commit to something, you must choose to re-commit to it every. single. day.
So take a moment right now and re-commit to your dreams. Their reality depends on it.
Step Two: The Vision of Your Future
In order to be deeply aligned with your dreams, you must have a clear vision of what you want your life to be like.
I’m not talking, “Oh I want to be a realtor who makes enough money to own a big house”. That’s a direct and clear path to failure.
I’m talking, “By the time I’m 30 years old, I want to have enough income that I can financially support myself and my children. I want to be an entrepreneur, so I don’t have to be tied to the 9-5 job, enabling me to work only 4 hours a day. This allows me to spend most of my time and most of my life with my family instead of working. I want to be the top realtor in my state, and I am planning a home goods line in partnership with Target. I want to have a marketing team and a brand team of awesome people who make my vision a reality. I want my house to have an epic pool and treehouse in the backyard. With an espresso maker that I use every morning to make a latte before I start my day.”
Sorry for the long paragraph, but man oh man…THAT is what the visions for your life need to be like. They need to be so engrossed with detail that 1. They will never leave your mind, and 2. You become so motivated to make them a reality.
You want to be as close to your desires as possible, even if they’re not a reality yet.
Here is a simple exercise you can do to have a clearer vision of what you want your life to be like-
Set aside thirty minutes to envision and write down what your ideal day would be. From the time you wake up (is it at 7 am? 9 am? 12 pm?) to the time you go to bed…what does your day consist of?
I have done this, and honestly, it really influenced my perspective on my achieving my dreams.
Here are a few tips for the process:
Try not to let anyone else’s image of their life influence what you truly want for your life.
Try not to let anyone else’s expectations for your life influence what you truly want for your life.
Ask yourself: if I wasn’t born into ____religion or ____ household or under ____circumstances, what would my gut tell me to do?
What do my soul and heart naturally gravitate towards?
You HAVE to capitalize on what your heart wants- it’s an indicator of what you’re meant to do. Not capitalizing on it is a disservice to yourself and those who would benefit from your passions and talents.
The more you surround yourself with the visions of what you want, the more likely they are to come true.
Step Three: Tell Someone What You’re Doing
Tell someone you’ve re-committed to your dreams.
Tell everyone about your visions and hopes.
Let them help you stay on track.
The more people you tell you want to start an online business, the more they will ask you about it. And you better have something to say!
You don’t want to meet a question of “How’s the business going?” with an “I haven’t really started yet…” And you certainly don’t want to lie about the progress you’ve made.
That does you no good aside from feeling bad about your lack of progress.
I know it’s scary… to have to live up to the things you say you’re going to do. The pressure can be overwhelming.
But pressure is what makes average rocks into shining diamonds.
Real Talk
You can work towards your dreams every day.
You can work towards your dreams despite the fact that you also have a 9-5 or any other perceived hurdles you have.
‘Tomorrow’ often never comes. Today is here; it’s now.
It’s never going to be the perfect or the ‘right’ time to start. So start today!
After all, today is all we have. There’s no guarantee of a tomorrow…
